Celph Titled and Buckwild – Nineteen Ninety Now (review)

Buckwild n Celph

Buckwild the legendary DJ/Producer from D.I.T.C. and Celph Titled the Miami Tampa MC from the Demigodz and Army of the Pharaohs, have teamed up to release their collaboration album Nineteen Ninety Now. I recently got a chance to listen to the album and I gotta say, the shit is seriously dope. I had high hopes to start with because after all I’m a Buckwild fan and a Celph Titled fan and if you’re familiar with either of these guys you’ll know that anything but fresh is unacceptable. The production on NNN is ridiculous, from the masterful DJ cuts, rugged and smooth bass lines, dirty drums, and keyboard loops, it’ll have die hard hip-hop fans breaking there necks and rewinding constantly to say DAMN! I could name any track on this album and Buckwild kills, but on Swashbuckling, Buckwild serves up a different beat for every MC who spits on the track, each beat is dirtier than the next. I’m willing to say right if you hate Celph Titled for whatever reason this album would still deliver on production alone.

Now, Celph Titled heads the emceeing on the album and like the track title, he Steps Correctly. The album is everything you’d expect from Celph, outstanding punchlines and incredible wordplay  he’s able to come up with so effortlessly. I’ll stand by my word and say, Celph doesn’t spit a whack verse on the whole album and every rapper featured on the album laced up their boots up and kicked the crap out of track as if it was the 1st time you heard Canibus featured on that Lost Boyz ish (if you don’t get that reference, this album may not be for you.) The Demigodz MC gets real and does a bio-track telling his history on record even touching up on the Cage beef he had in the early 2000’s.

In closing, Nineteen Ninety Now is a nod to what used to be what hip-hop was about. Spittin’ your heart out on the track, going for throats, and showing these other Sucker MC’s, that they need to step their game up if they wanna breathe air in your atmosphere. And showing that your drums are dirtier, bang harder, your bass thumps louder , and your samples are fresher and more killer than the next guy with the SP-1200, ASR-10 or Kurzweil K2000. This album delivers and is near flawless and is a sure contender for album of the year. Hip-Hop is certainly not dead it’s alive and it’s underground, if you’re one of these guys that don’t spend your cash on albums anymore cuz hip-hop is whack, let this be your first hip-hop purchase in a minute, cuz this shit is exactly whats been missing for years. Celph Titled and Buckwild – Nineteen Ninety Now is in stores now.

Boston Girls (review)

Boston Girls

I recently got a chance to check out the film “Boston Girls” a new horror/slasher flick made locally that takes place in the wonderful city of Boston. When I started the flick I was happy to hear a familiar voice on the soundtrack, Slaine (La Coka Nostra/Special Teams)! Right off the bat, it kicks off with a track off one of his mixtapes titled Boston, I immediately felt right at home from the music, to the accents, and the familiar territory like Modern Diner and McCoy Stadium.

The movie is written, produced, and starring Camille Solari a beautiful comedian/actress and a hard working, jack of all trades. Camille really delivered in this film as far as acting/writing goes. She nailed a lot of scenes too, one in particular a hilarious bar fight that seemed like it couldv’e been any bar on any night in the greater Boston area. She also didnt do the typical summer camp, teenie bopper horror flick which was refreshing.

Boston Girls is a story of love, revenge and hatred. Two typical Boston Girls,The Irish girl Lynne(Shay Astar), and the Italian, Carmela (Camille Solari). Both beautiful young ladies have been screwed over by men time and time again. Lynne haunted by a past rape on a carnival merry go round by a masked man and Carmela suffering from being sexually abused by her Uncle Reggie (Danny Trejo) an ex Ball Player. The 2 women are constantly being harassed by the brash Boston locals and constantly being cheated on by there despicable boyfriends.

DT, CS

Lynne and Carmela discover one of their men cheating with a scandalous townie whore, the slam pig calls the cops and both Lynne and Carmela are arrested for disorderly conduct. To the girls surprise they aren’t brought back to the cop shop but brought to a wooded area where they are to be humiliated and raped, by Bostons finest. What makes matters worse these are local cops and both women know their attackers one a filthy bastard with no more morals, scrupils or decency the other a junkie, loser who has a good heart but is outcast due to a bad reputation and rumors of being a drug addict. During the attack the women overcome one of the cops, smashing his head and throwing him off a short bridge leaving him badly hurt and presumably dead. Next the girls take a stop back to Lynnes where she shows off some skin and stabs her man repeatedly while Carmela watches. This is the start of their killing spree, making a list of every male pig they know and taking revenge on their disgusting cheating asses.

What I liked about Boston Girls was, while other films of this genre pride themselves on being the most over the top, or the goriest, Boston Girls was neither, it seemed to have a perfect balance of both. The story is and I’m sad to say, something that many people can relate to. A lot of these women don’t get the vengeance they deserve, but Carmela and Lynne are heroes to the woman who have been screwed over by men over and over again and the film portrays this throughout. It’s not too often you’re rooting for the murderers but these 2 are to pissah not to like. I suggest you check this flick out it was wicked awesome,

buy it, rent it, Netlfix it, if you’re a Bostonian and like indy, low budget, horror flicks this movie will deliver. If you hate Indy flicks, low budget movies, and Boston, go fuck yourself.

UFC 113 Review

UFC113

You all know here @ TheCrypt were huge fight fans if it’s boxing or MMA we’re all over it and UFC 113 was no exception.

Kimbo vs Mitrione

1st, Kimbo got laced by Matt Mitrione, he chopped him down with huge leg kicks and washis boxing was more accurate than Kimbos. Although it was a huge loss and an upset to most, I thought Kimbo looked better than ever, but I think he’s still missing something. I was hoping for more stand up and a better finish but Mitrione dominated Kimbo.Maybe Slice will find a home with Strikeforce.

lawlor severn

2nd, Tommy Lawlor got upset hard, dudes brawled it out for  1 and 1/2 rounds. Even with his killer moustache and the spirit of Dan Severn, Lawlor couldnt pull it off. Sadly, Doerksen slipped in a rear naked choke midway through the 2nd round and choked lawler out. I personally thought this was the 2nd most entertaining fight of the night besides the main event.

daley koscheckkos daley3rd, Koscheck beat Paul Daley with his superior wrestling skills but all in all it was lackluster. Late in the 1st round Daley threw a knee to Koschecks head while he was getting up from the ground and with the replay Daley clearly missed the shot, but Koscheck cried wolf and sat there like a broad for a minutes complaining of catching a knee to the eye while grounded, either way its an illegal blow. I guess Daley got him back after the match ended for his crappy acting the bell clearly rings and Daley throws a punch at Josh from behind the ref flew inbetween the 2 fighters. Daley, I hope you like washing dishes.

shogun machida

4th, The main event Shogun vs Machida. This fight was a big deal for me, I knew in my heart that Shogun got a raw deal last time, and he needed to beat the bag out of Machida to take this one.. and the same goes for Machida. Machida started off looking stong kneeing and taking Shogun to the ground twice. Shoguns fists quickly met Machida’s face and Machidas body met the the ground. Rua quickly takes a top position on the champ and began pummeling his head until Machida laid flat like a corpse. Shogun finally the light heavyweight champ… Will it be Jackson or Rashad next to meet the Shogun?

Great night of fights, ill start giving more recaps on this ish as well as giving you TheCrypt’s fght picks.
