The HipHopHeads Podcast In this special episode we remember the lives of Sham aka Dvsalias aka Scott Overbeay and Pete Allah aka Illmatic. Integral parts of this website and we would not be here today if not for them. Please feel free to download Dvsalias – sham’sDvsalias below. Also video of this podcast below.
22 years ago the incredible Pete Allah aka Illmatic created HipHopHeads.org. Essentially it was an island of misfits, who had been banned from other popular message boards at the time. We came together and helped build the board. Pete gave it his all, but life got in the way, and he wasn’t ablt to continue. That’s where I came in and took over the board and created TheCrypt. We’ve had our ups and downs, website getting taken down, forums getting nuked multiple times. Hacked and visited by the FBI. A lot has gone on in the 20 years I’ve owned the site.
I started TheCrypt as a sister site to HipHopHeads giving hiphop news and bootlegging music and films. The blog blew up and I did what I can with the forums. We were taken down multiple times due to the content we had on the site and angry rappers and jealous websites reporting us. The site has been up with this iteration since 2010 with little to no downtime.
2 years ago I was getting alerts that the Php needed to be upgraded on the site. So I updated everything and upon doing this I broke the forums. I’ve tried fixing it but it was out of my knowledge realm. So I let it sit stangnat for nearly two years. I finally hired the incredible WhiteNeo to help me get it back up and running and honestly I couldn’t be happier he did amazing work.
Everything should be working like a top and I’ll be adding more to the forums in the near future. But it’s back and ready for use, you can use your old account or create a new one. And hopefully we will be up for many years to come. Almost every forum from hey day is gone, hell so are the blogs. But we’re still standing, still serving up great hiphop content.
