WTF Happened To Solar? (R.I.P. Guru)

A couple weeks ago was the anniversary of Guru’s death and I been bumping some Gang Starr and it got me thinking about the shadiness surrounding his passing. I recall Solar not letting friends and family in to the hospital to see Guru before dying, putting out fake statements from Guru which the Elam family rejected, supposedly abusing Guru physically (according to Jacky Jasper). Then you have Guru’s nephew issued a heartfelt statement that captured the hearts of the interwebs….

I know soon after Guru died people were talkin’ mad shit about Solar, you’d think Solar would’ve died but oddly, you never really heard from this asshole again. WTF happened to this creep? Is he eating right now? If so take the fork out of his mouth. Let’s see what he’s been upto?

Did anyone get an interview with this guy after Guru died other than Sway?

Then there was the dreaded “Solar’s Baby Mama HHDX Interview

Has anyone punched him in the face? Why aren’t people beating his ass like he was the pecker checker in the gym locker room? One of the last articles I saw on Solar was, he was dropping some music with some members of Living Colour and trying to revive Jazzamatazz (something Guru created but now Solar is trying to bank on, hoping Jazz fans forgotten what a piece of shit he is). Guru’s older brother was interviewed recently and this odd statement was made when Solar was brought up at the end of the interview.

I don’t know if this is going to restrict you from talking about it on the record, but you’ve mentioned that you met a lot of people that were Guru’s musical affiliates and partners. I’m just wondering if you’ve actually met Solar, at one point or another.

Yeah, I met him and I would love to talk about him, but I can’t. I just can’t. But yes, I met him, but now I’m hoping that entire story, as the litigation works it’s way through, comes out and then there will be a story to tell.

It also seems Solar may have set up a fake Gang Starr page on Facebook and on that shit is hundreds of fake comments disrespecting DJ Premier… Yea the “Official page of Gang Starr” Is calling the legendary producer a piece of shit all while showering Solar with praise… Is this sounding fishy?

In a recent article in The Source disgustingly posted on the anniversary of Guru’s travel to the afterlife was an interview with the snake, the rat, the scum, that is Solar. Claiming that he had been given rights to the Gang Starr/Guru Catalog… And that he’s gonna make sure it’s done right but hasn’t spoken to Premier.. Just reading the interview makes me cringe and it also baffles the mind and makes you think Solar is delusional… It looks like he created a phony “Gang Starr website“… and it also looks like he’s selling fake Merch “Gang Starr” shirts and calling them shits official… Taking advantage of fans now you dirt bag? Can you get any lower?

So the brother mentioned litigation? Is the Elam family taking Solar to court? Is it Premier for “the catalog”? Surely selling fake merch is illegal w/o a property license? I heard that Guru left his whole estate to Solar (rumor?) and nothing to his kids/family… is this about that? or a combo of everything? What is the story why isn’t the hip-hop community following this like the OJ case? We as a people should take to the streets going door to door looking for this guy. We can’t stop, we won’t stop, until he’s found! and justice is served. I want answers, I know I’m not the only one! Let’s get those answers!

GURU

It’s come to our attention that the legend GURU of Gangstarr passed away yesterday due to a long fight with cancer…. I can’t believe it… GURU was one of my favorite MC’s of all time and Gangstarr one of my favorite groups of all time. Terrible day to say the least and the problem thats more bothersom are all the lies, deceipt and foulness the fans have had to endure during this whole ordeal. Not only do we lose a legend, an inspiration, a friend and in some cases family but we’ve (I) have lost respect not for GURU but human beings in general. Even Guru dying of cancer comes as a shock…

For months/weeks we were lead to believe this was no big deal and now that im looking at its just lies. These thoughts shouldnt be consuming my mind all I should be thinking about is the great music that GURU has done over the years, Instead, while GURU is at his sickest this chump Solar is sending out press releases on how GURU is putting out albums…. apparently from his death bed, do you see where im going with this? We the fans knew GURU had health problems and when GURU went into the hospital before we were told it was a HEART ATTACK that put him down, which it may have been, but apparently bigger problems were below the surface.GURU is supposedly in and out of comas tweeting and just talking shit. Nope, it’s really Solar spreading poison, he’s interviewed later and shrugs it off and snickers about it. We’re told GURUs out of a coma and doing great and will recover… meanwhile we learn now that hes dead that hes been battling cancer for over a year… How do you forget to drop a fact like this? You ever hear of cancer awareness?

Well the icing on the cake is the letter… the letter from GURU… GURU’s last words… and the whole thing stinks… it starts sincere then quickly takes a turn. Not only does the suspected writer forget how make a proper paragraph and instead of saying peace and love… he goes out of his way to insult Premier and he basically thanks the villain instead… shocking. Its funny after I’ve read this through a couple of times where it says Solar, Jazzamatazz, and album names I’ve replaced with DJ Premier, Gangstarr and Gangstarr albums and and vice versa and the whole things makes much more sense. To refer to Premier as my ex-DJ just doesnt sound like GURU thats like saying Michael was just a dancer.

Read the letter…. Rest in Peace GURU you were the best from Boston and one of the greatest MC’s of all time and you’ll be remembered for the lyrics you alone made… And the great music you made. If those your words below youll see what will last the test of time, gangstarr.. or jazzamatazz.. if the letter is true I hope you get your wish and if it isnt … we all meet our moment of truth… Rot in Piss Solar.

I, Guru, am writing this letter to my fans, friends and loved ones around the
world. I have had a long battle with cancer and have succumbed to the disease. I
have suffered with this illness for over a year. I have exhausted all medical
options.

I have a non-profit organization called Each One Counts
dedicated to carrying on my charitable work on behalf of abused and
disadvantaged children from around the world and also to educate and research a
cure for this terrible disease that took my life. I write this with tears in my
eyes, not of sorrow but of joy for what a wonderful life I have enjoyed and how
many great people I have had the pleasure of meeting.

My loyal best
friend, partner and brother, Solar, has been at my side through it all and has
been made my health proxy by myself on all matters relating to myself. He has
been with me by my side on my many hospital stays, operations, doctors visits
and stayed with me at my home and cared for me when I could not care for myself.
Solar and his family is my family and I love them dearly and I expect my family,
friends, and fans to respect that, regardless to anybody’s feelings on the
matter. It is my wish that counts. This being said I am survived by the love of
my life, my sun KC, who I trust will be looked after by Solar and his family as
their own. Any awards or tributes should be accepted, organized approved by
Solar on behalf myself and my son until he is of age to except on his own.

I do not wish my ex-DJ to have anything to do with my name likeness,
events tributes etc. connected in anyway to my situation including any use of my
name or circumstance for any reason and I have instructed my lawyers to enforce
this. I had nothing to do with him in life for over 7 years and want nothing to
do with him in death. Solar has my life story and is well informed on my family
situation, as well as the real reason for separating from my ex-DJ. As the sole
founder of GangStarr, I am very proud of what GangStarr has meant to the music
world and fans. I equally am proud of my Jazzmatazz series and as the father of
Hip-Hop/Jazz. I am most proud of my leadership and pioneering efforts on
Jazzmatazz 4 for reinvigorating the Hip-Hop/Jazz genre in a time when music
quality has reached an all time low. Solar and I have toured in places that I
have never been before with GangStarr or Jazzmatatazz and we gained a reputation
for being the best on the planet at Hip-Hop/Jazz, as well as the biggest and
most influential Hip-Hop/Jazz record with Jazzmatazz 4 of the decade to now. The
work I have done with Solar represents a legacy far beyond its time. And we as a
team were not afraid to push the envelope. To me this is what true artists do!
As men of honor we stood tall in the face of small mindedness, greed, and
ignorance. As we fought for music and integrity at the cost of not earning
millions and for this I will always be happy and proud, and would like to thank
the million fans who have seen us perform over the years from all over the
world. The work I have done with Solar represents a legacy far beyond its time
and is my most creative and experimental to date. I hope that our music will
receive the attention it deserves as it is some of the best work I have done and
represents some of the best years of my life.
