I read this on his page last week and thought it was about someone else, then I saw it on my homie Weapon ESP page and was hit with a gut punch. Truly devastating he was such a great guy and a great MC. This has been a hard couple years for the Czar squad, we’ve lost so many…

Jun just last year hit me up to send me a cassette tape he had of himself freestyling at Hofstra University and what I believe to be 1998/99. I’m glad he sent the tape because this is unreleased and his first appearance on radio and he entrusted me to digitize it. I sent the files to Jun but I don’t think he ever released it to anyone.

I got his permission at the time to release it but was waiting for the right time, sadly I didn’t think a time of heartbreak would be the time. This sucks. But let’s remember Junclassic for being awesome and a great MC. Below is his performance at Hofstra Radio in am Unreleased freestyle session, I don’t know the other MC’S name and Jun couldn’t remember either lol.

R.I.P. X-Ray Da Mindbenda (X-Tacy Radio Show Collection)

Word came in today that Raymond Davin aka X-Ray Da Mindbenda, Web D (Darcmind), King Cesar (Monsta Island Czars) passed away. Truly a sad to MIC founder , an incredible producer, dj , MC he could really do it all. Back in the early 2000’s X-Ray wanted to bring more light and ears to Underground HipHop, in which the genre was really thriving at the time. He made a show called X-Tacy Radio Show which monthly he’d drop these mix shows w/ Kev Roc from Darcmind. He had mad exclusives for the time, example in the first episode he premiers 2 tracks from The U.N. which is where I heard Roc Marciano for the 1st time that I can recall. X-Ray shouted him out and later did a track with him which I have and will post here as well. He also had freeestyle session with friend of the site STEVEN KING on episode 12. Also got to become a fan and online friends with the great Uppanotch, courtesy of X-Ray. This is a collected set of X-Tacy Radios I had in my collection as I simultaneously posted them to my website to spread the word.

Here we have episodes 1-26 and episode 50. This was truly a special show and a time capsule of the era, it’s a shame we will no longer be blessed by the earthly presence of X-Ray but I hope to help his legacy live on by posting these for the future generations. I have a few more in the bag ill try to add to the playlist which will be downloadable.

R.I.P. KONG of Monsta Island Czars

It’s with a heavy heart Im writing that we’ve lost another Czar. Kong was an incredible MC not only was he featured greatly on the MIC album in which he had his own solo track but he dropped a couple solo albums that I thought were pretty incredible, namely Kongcrete and Shakles Off. He joins DOOM and SPIEGA in the afterlife.

RIP Kong.

R.I.P. Spiega of Monsta Island Czars

It’s with great sadness that I learned today of Spiega’s passing. A longtime member of the acclaimed and elusive Monsta Island Czars crew. Spiega was an extremely talented and raw MC and he will be missed greatly. I helped push a solo album of his years ago via the site and I’ll try and get that up later today so his memory will live on through his music.

Hi my name is Dawn St. Clair and my best friend and children’s father died suddenly November 10 from a bicycle accident. He left behind 2 beautiful boys aged 22 and 15, and a whole host of friends and family who loved him. We need help to give him a beautiful service dedicated to his memory.
