Top Ten Albums of 2014

THE TOP TEN ALBUMS OF 2014Schoolboy Q
10. Schoolboy Q – Oxymoron
This one surprised me as I never really fucked with Q, I had his other album Contradictions or whatever but never gave it a proper listen or it didn’t grab me like this latest album did.

cole james cash
09. Cole James Cash – BBW A Pornographic Opera
This one came out of left field for me an incredible concept album by someone I wasnt quite familiar with. This album was raw had excellent beats and is something you could just vibe to, I loved bumping this in the whip on long car drive and just gettin’ open. Get familiar with this dude, the albums free.

100s
08. 100’s – IVRY
This is straight pimp shit mane, funky beats, dope ass misogynistic rhymes and cold ass perms. If you sleep on this freebie ya need to get ya mind right.

The Doppelgangaz
07. The Doppelgangaz – Peace Kehd
The Dopps dropped 2 albums this year and it was the non instrumental, Peace Kehd that made my list. If youre unfamiliar with the doppelgangaz, they have raw beats matched with great rhymes which often make you go OH SHIT! or make you laugh, seriously this guys have done no wrong yet and they’ve dropped something like 10 albums, thats a damn good track record.

Freddie Gibbs and Madlib
06. Freddie Gibbs and Madlib – Pinata
What can be said about the duo that’s Madlib and Freddie Gibbs? Expect amazing production and rhymes that will have you on the edge of your seat. Freddie Gibbs is easily top 5 rappers in the game right now and his work ethic shows it. Madlibs production is really on point and this is on par with his past releases and he really sets the mood for Gibbs to body shit.

Dilated Peoples
05. Dilated Peoples – Directors of Photography
With some self production, help from DJ Premier, the alchemist and cuts by Babu, add Mr. Slow Flow and Rakaa to the mix and forget about it, this might be my favorite Dilated album thus far and that’s saying a lot. Like I mentioned the beats on this are heavy hitting and the Premo track is straight flames, get on it!

Lord Steppington
04. Step Brothers – Lord Steppington
The Alchemist and Evidence this was such a banger, Alchemist proving everyday that he’s the top rapper producer in the game, he came ridiculous on this and then add that incredible Scott Caan verse and forget about top 5 best albums of the year.

Run The Jewels
03. Run The Jewels – Run The Jewels 2
Killer Mike and El-P are at again and they delivered another classic. This album is at the number 1 spot or the top 3 for everylist on line and for good reason, it’s incredible. Mike and El are in your face from start to finish and the spaced out production never quits oh did I mention it’s free? Bring on Meow The Jewels!

J Cole
02. J.Cole – 2014 Forest Hills Drive
Before you ask, I’m not trolling… This album imo was tight, I was always a J.Cole hater, I think he sucks, but perhaps thats what lead me to enjoying this album as much as I did. I expected an open asshole of an album was surprised by some great beats and J seemed to have stepped his rhyme game up, one gripe shut the fuck up about being the king nobody gives a fuck. Nice watch, RUN IT!

Your Old Droog
01. Your Old Droog – Your Old Droog EP/LP
Your Old Droog, the rookie of the year with the rawest raps out. Being compared to Nas and his producers comparisons to DJ Premier , really how could you lose? Your Old Droog has killed pretty much everything he’s been on. He’s single handedly brought back concept rap, is a master of the homonym rap aka the double aka double entendre, which is very difficult to pull off and make sense yet Droog does it effortlessly and masterfully. His 1st release IMO is a classic, let’s see if he can keep it up in 2015, in the meanwhile.. Where the Rhymes At?

This concludes my favorite releases of the year, if you did’t like the list you just have shitty taste in music and like I always say these lists are subjective by my taste is impeccable and should be used as guide to good music. So do yourselves a favor peep these albums and tel me how much J.Cole sucks.
