Here’s the Japanese trailer for Aaron Woolfolk‘s US/Japan co-production The Harimaya Bridge (Harimayabashi). Filming was split between Kochi Prefecture and San Francisco. Danny Glover served as executive producer and also has a role in the film.
Plot: Daniel Holder (Bennet Guillory) travels to Japan following the death of his son Mickey (Victor Grant) in a traffic accident. Daniel’s father was killed in a particularly brutal way while fighting the Japanese during World War II, so when Mickey took a job teaching English in Japan a rift formed between them. Daniel feels tremendous guilt over his son’s estrangement, but also finds his resentment toward Japan mounting even more than before. When Daniel meets Mickey’s former associates he initially rejects their kindness and clings to his grudge, but through a series of unexpected discoveries about his son’s life he’s eventually forced to reassess his outlook.
