Daniel feels tremendous guilt over his son’s estrangement, but also finds his resentment toward Japan mounting even more than before. When Daniel meets Mickey’s former associates he initially rejects their kindness and clings to his grudge, but through a series of unexpected discoveries about his son’s life he’s eventually forced to reassess his outlook.
