Bonus Episode: Pumpkinhead vs Yak Ballz
This lost audio is from the legendary Braggin’ Rights battle which I believe took place in 2000 (correct me if im wrong and ill fix this) which the finals were Yak Ballz vs Pumpkinhead aka PH (RIP). I’ve never heard the audio for this where you find out who the winner is, but when I spoke to PH he told me he took the W that night. There was video of this floating around online back then but it seems to be lost to time now. I was inspired to bring out this old tape as a new book has been released by Brian Kayser called “Rock, Rock, Rock, On:The Robert “PH” Diaz Story. Its out now which can cop from the link below. Well after many years of waiting Yakballz Gas Galaxy is here! I’ve always been a huge Yak fan ever since the first time I heard him on WKCR on a huge freestyle session where he basically outshined everyone. Fast Forward about ten years later and Yak was supposed to release this album via Def Jux, he started promoting it, put out the single and the artwork, but unfortunately Def Jux went on permanent hiatus and this record was never put out…. Until NOW! I havent got a chance to listen to it yet, I’m assuming this record isnt the gully Yak from the early 2 G’s but more of the tripped out Yak style that he’s been harnassing the past 4-5 years. Interestingly Yak produced a bunch of joints on this album which is pretty cool and dude got heat as heard on Vitamin D (song is sick). Anyways check out Gas Galaxy by Yakballz.
As you may know Eastern Conference Records put out it’s last record in 2008 with The Best and Worst of Cage, since then the label has been assumed dead. I for one was a big Eastern Conference Records Fan and bought anything that dropped on the label. I’m not saying I held every release in to the highest respect, but I enjoyed quite a few joints off each album. This is my best of Eastern Conference Records album. I pulled joints from each full length album as well as some samplers and specials some hard to find some not so hard to find. These records are all OOP and a few of them are available via iTunes I suggest you copp some of their stuff if you enjoy the mixtape. And I hope I can help put some new heads on to what I thought was a good label for it’s time. The compilation is 76 tracks long and almost 5 hours of material, so this will give you lots of replay value. Enjoy.
